Optomap

We were the first provider in Tooele County to offer the Optomap technology. The Optomap allows us to take a digital photograph of nearly the entire back of the eye without requiring dilation of the pupils. This allows earlier detection, diagnosis, and treatment of many ocular and systemic health conditions.

Digital Refraction

Digital Refraction Systems represent a complete shift in the way refractive errors are diagnosed and corrected. Unlike traditional methods where patients read letters from a chart, digital refraction involves utilizing computer-based interfaces and advanced algorithms to measure refractive errors. This digital approach provides a more comprehensive and accurate assessment of the eye, enabling our optometrists to prescribe tailored corrective lenses with unprecedented precision.

Virtual Reality Visual Field Testing

Virtual reality (VR) visual field testing is revolutionizing eye care, particularly for glaucoma patients and those with disabilities. Here are some key benefits:

  1. Comfort: Traditional visual field tests can be uncomfortable and anxiety-inducing. VR headsets allow patients to sit or recline comfortably, significantly reducing stress and discomfort during testing.
  2. Accessibility: VR testing is more adaptable for patients with mobility or cognitive challenges. It can be performed in various settings, including waiting rooms, and accommodates patients in wheelchairs or those who struggle to maintain a fixed position.
  3. Engagement: The immersive nature of VR can make testing feel more like a game, especially for children, which can enhance cooperation and reduce anxiety.
  4. Efficiency: VR tests are generally quicker, taking about 3-4 minutes compared to traditional methods. This allows for more patients to be seen in a day.
  5. Hygiene: Cleaning VR headsets is typically faster and easier than disinfecting traditional equipment, which is crucial for maintaining patient safety.
  6. Simultaneous Testing: Some VR systems allow for testing both eyes at once, which is not possible with traditional methods.

Overall, VR visual field testing enhances the patient experience, making eye exams more comfortable, efficient, and accessible.

Testimonials

  • I have “special” eyes that are so difficult to work with. Dr. Morrill is so patient and takes as much time as he needs to get my prescription correct. His staff is also amazing!

    - Susan R. H.
  • Thanks to the generosity of Dr. Merrill and the Tooele Elks Lodge 1673 we were able to give 79 school age children vision testing and new frames and lenses to start the new year at school, free of charge.

    - Lynda A.
  • I absolutely love going to the eye doctor because of Dr. Morrill and his staff! He actually takes the time to know his patients. He remembers me from previous appointments as well. If I was giving Oquirrh Mountain Eye Care a rating, it would be 10/10 for sure.

    - Garrett W.
